The Glazers have no plans to sell Manchester United because they think they will almost increase the club's worth in the coming years.

Thousands of fans demonstrated outside Old Trafford on Sunday in opposition to the Americans' possession of the Red Devils, and the club's match against Liverpool had to be postponed after a group of supporters made their way onto the Old Trafford turf only an hour before kick-off.

DON'T MISS:

The club was purchased by a Florida-based family in 2005 for approximately £780 million, and the club was then placed in debt to the tune of approximately £550 million.

In the sixteen years since, the family has extracted almost £1.5 billion from the team, funds that should have been invested on players, the arena, and other ventures.

The massive interest payments made to the club during the early years of the family's ownership cost United in the transfer sector, with just Sir Alex Ferguson's brilliance holding the team successful.

DON'T MISS:

United sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for a world record £80 million in 2009, with the Red Devils demanding that the price be charged in one lump sum in order to hold up interest repayments.

Wigan ace Antonio Valencia, Bordeaux winger Gabriel Obertan, and Michael Owen, who left Newcastle United on a free transfer, took his spot.

There have been marches in the past, such as the Green & Gold movement in 2010, but the club's recent effort to enter the European Super League has refocused supporters' anger on the Americans.

Despite United fans' best efforts to persuade the Glazers to sell, the Guardian reports that the Glazers have no intention of doing so.

The club is worth between £3.7bn and £4bn, but the Americans expect it would be worth about £7.2bn in the coming years and are unable to sell their stake.
