Rio Ferdinand feels Raheem Sterling will be welcomed at Manchester United.
According to Rio Ferdinand Presents Five (via Manchester Evening News), Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand has stated that the Red Devils would welcome the opportunity to recruit Manchester City starlet Raheem Sterling.
The English international had a great summer, as England advanced to the Euro 2020 final. Despite his recent strong form, his troubles at the Etihad persist.
Last season, Sterling was overshadowed by Phil Foden, and the addition of Jack Grealish in the summer hasn't helped matters. He has only made two starts in his six outings this season.
The 26-year-current old's contract expires in two years. He is approaching his prime at the age of 26 and should be playing consistently. Ferdinand has raised concerns about Sterling's fate as well as his recent fall from favor.
DON'T MISS:
“He was the go-to guy for so many years when they needed a goal, and now he's in the wilderness.”
The Manchester United great says that he would choose Sterling at United above anybody else. Ferdinand, a match-winner on his day, goes on to suggest that the winger is best suited staying in England.
“If I were Liverpool, I'd purchase Sterling right now... If I were him, I wouldn't move to Barcelona or Real Madrid right now, which is why I suggested Liverpool... “Manchester United will sign him.”
United already has a strong frontline full of young English talent. Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Jadon Sancho may form the nucleus of not only the Red Devils' but also the Three Lions' assault in the coming years.
With Sterling in the mix, we'll have a core of English talent who are all familiar with each other's strengths. The 26-year-old is a fantastic player who would be a wonderful addition to the United club. However, there is little chance that City will sell a player of Sterling's caliber to their archrivals.
Few people can claim to have played for both Manchester clubs as well as Liverpool. The signing of Sterling will undoubtedly irritate the supporters of our two main rivals.
