Manchester United may lose record acquisition Paul Pogba for free if he does not sign a new contract with the club next summer.
According to media sources, the Red Devils are preparing for the departure of the French international by attempting to recruit Franck Kessie from AC Milan.
Tutto Sport (via Il Milanista) reports that the Rossoneri are unable to satisfy the pay demands of the 24-year-old midfielder, who wants to earn a maximum of 7 million euros per year. The Serie A titans are only willing to pay 5 million euros each year.
In such a case, the African star may quit the club next summer when his contract expires, and the Old Trafford team may be interested in recruiting him. At the moment, the 48-cap player earns a fairly modest wage of 2.2 million euros every season, which equates to about £36,000 per week (Corriere Dello Sport via Paisley Gates).
More recently, the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo stated that Manchester United had set their eyes on Kessie, who is also wanted by several major European teams.
The former Atalanta player is a versatile talent who can play as a playmaker as well as a creative central midfielder. Last season, he scored 14 goals and assisted on six others for AC Milan.
Manchester United has not strengthened their center midfield in almost three years, and in all honesty, they should step in to improve the department in January rather than waiting until the summer.
Should Ole spend the money to sign Franck Kessie, in your opinion?
