Sheffield United very keen on signing James on loan

Sheffield United are pressing hard to get James Garner on loan, as his personal stock continues to climb.

James Garner was touted as a Manchester United first-team prospect not long ago. One of those persons was me. In that aspect, I continue to feel the Englishman is capable.

However, with United's midfield being so loaded, minutes for Garner may have been difficult to come by. In light of this, another short-term transfer away for the box-to-box guy may be the best option.

That appears to be the path United is willing to go, according to The Sun. There appears to be a clear front-runner for Garner's services as well: Sheffield United.

The Championship club is reported ‘very interested in signing the United teenager on loan, with the Blades eager to reinforce their midfield after being relegated.

DON'T MISS:

Garner is expected to play a key role in Slavisa Jokanovic's plans, with Sheffield United eager to return to the Premier League at the first opportunity.

The Blades are hopeful that their good connection with United, which includes taking Dean Henderson on loan in the past, would pay off.

Garner would be signed as a direct midfield replacement if late moves away from Sheffield United for the likes of Sander Berge go through as planned.

Although I would want to see Garner stay in the Premier League, he may benefit from another season in the Championship. There's a better possibility he'll start there on a regular basis, and as previously said, Henderson benefited from a similar transfer just a few years ago.

Garner possesses all of the necessary skills. Now all he needs is a platform to show off his abilities. I fully anticipate the Birkenhead-born midfielder to make an immediate impact wherever he finishes up next season.
