Manchester United has been trying for a long time to entice Norwegian international Erling Braut Haaland, and the latest claims in the British media are intriguing.
When he was scoring goals for RB Salzburg week after week in December 2019, the Red Devils were ready to sign the center forward. Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, moved in to sign a £130,000-per-week contract with him and engaged his services.
According to an exclusive report published by The Daily Star Sunday today (press image below), the 21-year-old striker has a long-standing friendship with Ole Gunnar Solskajer and views him in high respect.
In this scenario, the news source claims that United feel Ole's new contract and relationship with Haaland would help them land a huge signing next summer.
Similarly, The Sun has exclusively revealed that United are confident in their ability to recruit the 12-cap international in 2022, when his £63 million release clause becomes available.
The 20-time English champions would have liked to sign him this summer, according to reports. They don't have the finances to afford Haaland after spending so much on Varane and Sancho.
According to the Star, Chelsea are currently in a pole position to sign the striker this summer, but Dortmund are hesitant to sell and has placed a £150 million price tag on their prized asset.
The youthful forward scored 41 goals in as many games (all competitions) for the Bundesliga club last season. He scored the most goals in the UEFA Champions League. Man United do require a quality striker to replace veteran Edinson Cavani. Should they wait till next summer to entice Erling Haaland?
