Bruno Fernandes is hoping that Manchester United add one of his Portugal teammates to their team, and the club does have a 'genuine interest.

United are close to completing the acquisition of Jadon Sancho, with fans eagerly anticipating the news following his medical at the club last week.

DON'T MISS:

Raphael Varane of Real Madrid is also set to join the Premier League side soon, after the World Cup champion reportedly told his present club that he wants to go.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side's shopping spree may not finish there, as a midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Ruben Neves of Wolves is one player whose name has been raised, and United's "pursuit is serious," according to journalist Dean Jones of The Football Terrace.

Fernandes has been United's most important player in the last 18 months since joining the club, and Jones believes that this could influence the club's aspirations to recruit his fellow Portuguese midfielder.

"Bruno Fernandes, in particular, is certainly desperate for Neves to join, and I believe the club is aware of that," Jones stated.

Both have played for the national team and were in the squad for the recent Euros, though neither received much playing time.

DON'T MISS:

By sitting in a deeper place and feeding Fernandes and Paul Pogba, Neves could potentially assist Solskjaer in his move to a more dynamic 4-3-3.

The manager has frequently utilized the double pivot of Scott McTominay and Fred to cover his defense, but Varane's arrival could spell the end of that formation, and he is looking to acquire a defensive midfielder.

Neves has previously been connected with Arsenal, and Jones stated that Mikel Arteta's team was still the'most aggressive' in attempting to complete the transfer.

United have been concentrating on their two high-profile transfers, as well as attempting to recruit Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid, so a midfielder hasn't been a top priority.

After signing midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht, the Gunners are attempting to finalize a deal for Brighton centre defender Ben White.

If the Red Devils are unable to sign the 24-year-old, they may step up their pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga.

They have been heavily connected with a move for the Rennes midfielder, but he might also be lined up as a replacement for Paul Pogba, who has been linked with a move to PSG.

United would have to be regarded title challengers if they sign a deeper lying midfielder and Trippier, in addition to Sancho and Varane.
