Last night, a familiar face from Manchester United was seen on the sidelines of a Euro 2020 Group C match.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is a member of Frank de Boer's Netherlands coaching staff.

For United fans who had just watched the Dutch win 3-2, seeing him again was a welcome blast from the past.

Van Nistelrooy was a fan favorite at United in the early 2000s, and he will always be remembered as one of the club's great out-and-out goal scorers.

With 150 goals, the Dutchman is United's 11th all-time leading striker, which is rather impressive considering he only played five seasons at the club.

After stints with Real Madrid, Hamburg, and Malaga, the prolific striker retired in 2012 and has been working on his coaching credentials since then.

He previously served as assistant manager for the Netherlands under Guus Hiddink in 2014.

The Dutch now lack a striker with Van Nistelrooy's skills, but he is available to assist and advise when needed.

The Netherlands defeated Ukraine 3-2, with Andriy Shevchenko, another player from the 2000s, serving as the beaten team's manager.

Van Nistelrooy is still only 44 years old, so he could still train for a few more decades and eventually become a manager.

For the time being, it was just good to see him again, and his appearance was well-received on social media.
