Tough challenge now faces United to secure missing £10m sponsor amid Glazer protests

Manchester United's long-term jersey sponsorship contract with TeamViewer earlier this year had a response to the issue of how the club can substitute Chevrolet.

United has been attempting to do so since early 2020, and when the TeamViewer contract was revealed, the club was cocky about winning a big post-pandemic offer.

 DON"T MISS:

SkySports announced that the overall contract with TeamViewer is worth £235 million.

This is also less than the entire amount charged to Chevrolet, a drop of £17 million from £64 million to £47 million per year.

The explanation for this, according to ESPN, was because Chevrolet still served as the club's car sponsor.

United is also looking for a potential car sponsor, with a contract worth £10 million per year on the table.

There is now a crisis.

Protests against the Glazer family could cost United a lot of money.

The size of the marches has brought worldwide headlines, and proponents are eager to make United a commercially poisonous name in order to get the Glazers out.

Only this week, fans declared a sponsor boycott, delivering a widely publicized letter to 50 United-affiliated corporations informing them that fans worldwide will be boycotting their brands.

DON"T MISS:

Due to an antagonistic online attitude, TeamViewer's online ratings have been deluged with critical comments from United backers.

With all of this, what business in their right mind will sign up to work with United right now, particularly at the price the club is looking for?

The anti-Glazer sentiment is so high right now that every organization that partners with United would be in for a PR nightmare.

Even if these fan demonstrations merely help to hinder the club's business, they would undoubtedly trigger inconvenience at a period when they are attempting to finalize a multi-million dollar contract.

At best, they can scare away future partners entirely, demonstrating how poisonous the Glazer brand has become.
