According to Italian media, Roma is still interested in Manchester United flop Donny van de Beek.

Jose Mourinho is apparently able to throw a lifeline to Donny van de Beek when the Dutchman attempts to resurrect his career. While beginning the Europa League semi-final loss to Roma, the midfielder had another tough evening in Manchester United red last night.

 DON"T MISS:

Van de Beek played the whole game but was forced to play on the left side of the assault.

It's a position he's never done before, reinforcing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's inability to incorporate him into his squad.

The former Ajax player has only played two Premier League games this season and faces an unclear future at Old Trafford.

United got a loan bid for the player in January but refused to allow him go.

DON"T MISS:

Solskjaer is certain Van de Beek can improve, but the 24-year-old requires consistent playing time to reach his full potential.

Roma was interested in signing him this summer, according to the Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.

The Giallorossi are said to have shown an interest in United earlier this year.

According to reports, they were advised that in order to entice United to make the transfer, they would have to involve Nicolo Zaniolo in a swap contract.

Despite two consecutive cruciate knee ligament ruptures, Roma reportedly respectfully refused because Zaniolo is their most precious commodity.

Despite this, the source states that Roma are still involved in Van de Beek, who is now a priority for new manager Jose Mourinho.

Roma announced on Tuesday that the surprise hiring of the Portuguese for next season had been completed.

He will take over for Paulo Fonseca at the Stadio Olimpico and is supposed to be granted spending funds.

Mourinho has been associated with a number of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur players since his next move was announced.

David de Gea, who was named United's man of the match last night in Rome, has been associated with a surprise reconciliation with his former manager.

According to other sources, Mourinho's Tottenham favorites Eric Dier and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are still being pursued.

Both Juventus and Inter Milan are said to be interested in Van de Beek.
