It has been reported that Ed Woodward has resigned as executive vice-chairman of Manchester United.
The Red Devils have confirmed Woodward's exit, and he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Following the resignation of David Gill, Woodward took over as head of operations in 2013.
He had planned to retire at the end of the year, but the Super League's backlash has pushed the decision ahead, according to reports.

However, it is unclear who could succeed Woodward at United.
If the United hierarchy decides to succeed him, there are four primary contenders who might fill his shoes.
John Murtaugh
In March, United's director of football, John Murtough, was selected.
He has spent seven years at Old Trafford, most recently as head of football production.
Murtough was hired by United to "further boost the club's football activities."
Murtough may be the most well-suited candidate to succeed Woodward.
Darren Fletcher
Darren Fletcher, a former Red Devils midfielder, was appointed technical director at the same time Murtough was promoted.
His selection was intended to increase the emphasis on "a coordinated and long-term commitment to player and squad growth."
Fletcher is relatively inexperienced in business dealings, but the club has been clamoring for a more football-focused mind at the helm for many years.
If the club decides to look for a substitute for Woodward, fans will certainly accept Fletcher's appointment.
Michael Emenalo
Michael Emenalo has previously been tipped to succeed Woodward.
He is a Nigerian former left-back who has worked as a technical director for Chelsea and AS Monaco.
He orchestrated Chelsea's transition under Roman Abramovich and has been praised for his role in west London by former Arsenal striker Ian Wright.
"We're talking about under [Roman] Abramovich with three different coaches and he somehow managed to get the job done because he's a football guy," Wright said on the Kelly & Wrighty Show.
What happened with Chelsea was that even if a new boss was appointed, they continued to win trophies.

Antero Henrique
Former PSG manager Antero Henrique has previously been linked with the job at Manchester United.
Before Murtough was selected, he was one of the names mentioned in connection with the vacant director of football position at Old Trafford.
Henrique was PSG's sporting director from 2017 to 2019, after a short stint as FC Porto's director of football.
Previously, it was thought that United backed down from appointing Henrique because he wanted to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Max Allegri.
