When it comes to bolstering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad, Manchester United manager Ed Woodward may do a lot worse than look to free agents.
The Red Devils had a good Premier League season, but they know they need to improve if they want to lift the championship the next time around.
DON'T MISS:
Memphis Depay
Memphis Depay was a colossal failure at United.
The Netherlands international was signed by Louis van Gaal in the summer of 2015, but Jose Mourinho sold him 18 months later.
Depay, on the other hand, has revived his career at Lyon, scoring 14 goals and registering nine assists in Ligue 1 this season.
And with that in mind, there's no doubt United will prosper from the Dutchman's eventual return.
Especially with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele likely to command a high price, both of whom are on Solskjaer's radar.
DON'T MISS:
David Alaba
David Alaba announced his departure from Bayern Munich in January.
United was initially linked, but Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea now seem to be in a better position to negotiate a contract.
But, with Solskjaer looking for a fast center-back to partner Harry Maguire, Alaba should be considered.
He'd also bring wisdom to the Norwegian's young side.
And his emergence would be a significant declaration of intent, particularly given the fierce competition for the player.
Sergio Ramos
United has previously visited this place.
They attempted to sign Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid in 2015, after Van Gaal's tenure as manager and at a time when Los Blancos were interested in David De Gea.
Ramos eventually remained there.
However, after 16 years of glittering service, the Spain international looks set to depart the Bernabeu this summer.
And, if United signs Ramos, they will be bringing in a player who has won the biggest and best prices on the market.
Lionel Messi
Manchester City may have downplayed their chances of signing Erling Haaland in public, but Pep Guardiola remains very interested in the Norway international.
If City does sign Haaland, United should do everything in their power to carry Messi to Old Trafford.
Of definition, this is very doubtful.
However, it will be a major transaction, perhaps the largest in Premier League history.
Oh, plus he'd market a lot of shirts..
