According to Duncan Castles, Manchester United has yet to hold contract negotiations with Bruno Fernandes, and the Portuguese midfielder would like to wait to see what the club does in the transfer market before negotiating a new contract.
Despite the fact that he just joined the club in January 2020, United's star man has a long deal. Indeed, his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, and he is expected to receive £180,000 a week

What did Castles have to say?
Castles discussed the player's current condition at Old Trafford on yesterday's episode of The Transfer Window Podcast.
"There have been rumors that United are seeking to lock him down to a longer-term," he said beginning at 21:13.
"As you said, he's under contract until 2025 and is 26 years old, but I'm told there have been no negotiations for a new contract.
"Interestingly, Fernandes' stance is that he needs to wait before engaging in contract negotiations.
"What he needs to know is what Manchester United does for their team this summer and in the future."

Has United ever been here before?
To the extent.
If the situation was more urgent in that Wayne Rooney had asked to leave in 2010, the Glazer family, in his opinion, we're unable to match his goals and add any of Europe's best players to the club.
"I spoke with David Gill [United's CEO] last week, and he didn't give me all of the promises I was looking for about the potential team," Rooney said.
"I then told him I wasn't going to sign a new deal."
The Guardian speculated at the time that Rooney's remarks would "strike a chord with anti-Glazer backers who have fought against the debt the Americans accrued with their leverage."
Indeed, after the demonstrations against the club's owners following the club's failed bid to join the European Super League, supporters can be forgiven for wondering if the same thing will happen again almost eleven years later.
