To be honest, I thought Luke Shaw was done at Manchester United before the season started.
The arrival of Alex Telles undoubtedly helped Shaw's impressive return to fitness, but the player must be credited for his never-say-die mentality.
Shaw is now working at an incredibly high standard, and he is about to be praised for it.
According to the Daily Star, the United star is due to be given a new deal that includes a £40,000-a-week salary increase, with terms offered through the 2025-26 season.
It's been a fantastic season for the 25-year-old, who only has two years remaining on his new deal.
Sincerely, I'm overjoyed with Shaw.
Coming back from that horrible leg-break and winning back the fans is very impressive, particularly considering how fickle the modern-day football fan is.
Telles is now the one who is upset by a lack of playing time, when no one wanted Shaw to do so.
It goes without saying that Shaw needs a new contract and higher pay.
The Englishman is now looking forward to a good end to the season and, potentially, a medal.
Then, no matter, he'll compete in the European Championships this summer.
As England's first-choice left-back, hopefully.
This is not something I claim lightly.
Right now, there isn't a better left-back in the Premier League than Shaw.
The confidence is now flowing through him and he’s reaping those rewards – both on and off the field.
Congratulations, Luke! The sooner this deal is done, the better it’ll be for all involved
