The Champions League group-stage draw will take place next Thursday in Nyon, Switzerland, and Manchester United will be among the second seeds at the highly anticipated UEFA ceremony.
As of now, 26 teams have already secured their places in the competition due to their domestic league finishes or, in the case of Villarreal, as Europa League champions. Six more spots are still up for grabs at the end of the third qualifying round, which is set to take place next Wednesday evening.
The holders of the Champions League and the Europa League, as well as the champions of the top six-ranked associations: Spain, England, Germany, Italy, France, and Portugal, are all in Pot One of four. As a result, United will be pitted against one of the top seeds: Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Lille, Sporting CP, or Villarreal.
DON'T MISS:
Chelsea and Manchester City have been ruled out because teams from the same country cannot be pitted against each other at this level.
