The Red Devils kicked off the 2018 Premier League season with a 5-1 win over Leeds, and new signing Varane has a message for Pogba, his French adversary.

Raphael Varane has given a message to his new teammate Paul Pogba over his future at Manchester United, amid reports tying him to a move away from the club.

The French defender was eventually announced as a United player ahead of Saturday's season opener against Leeds.

Varane has signed a four-year contract with the club, worth £45 million, and will partner with captain Harry Maguire at center-back.

Varane will team up with his French counterpart Paul Pogba at Old Trafford, and the 28-year-old is ecstatic.

"I'm overjoyed," he told the club's official website. “I've known him for a long time; we started with the French national team together, and he's a fantastic player.

“I believe he is ambitious, as am I, and we are prepared to work hard and do everything in our power to win trophies.”

Pogba, on the other hand, faces an uncertain future at the club, since his contract is slated to expire at the conclusion of the season.

In an attempt to entice the midfielder away from Manchester, PSG is reportedly willing to offer him €600,000 per week (£510,000) for the start of the 2022-23 season.

Pogba has faced criticism for his behavior at Old Trafford, but Varane says the 28-year-old has "really good energy."

“I believe Paul is very optimistic and has a lot of energy; he motivates players in the locker room and on the field with his energy "He stated.

“We're different, but we're highly complementary, and it's crucial in a team to have a variety of leaders and personalities.

Varane has finally joined the club he rejected under Sir Alex Ferguson a decade ago in favor of a move to the Spanish capital.

However, the French central defender has stated that he is excited about the prospect to play in the Premier League after being offered the option to return to England.

“There have been a lot of rumors and a lot of people talking about me and Manchester United since 2011 when Sir Alex Ferguson came to my mother's house,” he explained.

“When it became true, I spoke with my club, and I believed there was a genuine possibility to play for Manchester United in the Premier League.”
