According to journalist Jonathan Shrager, Real Madrid center-back Raphael Varane will pass his physical and finalise his anticipated £34 million move to Manchester United on Wednesday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been pursuing Varane all summer as the Manchester United manager seeks to bolster his defense after identifying a top-class partner for Harry Maguire as a priority amid ongoing questions over Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.
Varane emerged as Manchester United's top target, and after months of negotiations with Real Madrid, the club announced on July 27th that they had achieved an agreement with the Spanish giants to sign the Frenchman subject to a physical.
According to the BBC, Manchester United will pay Madrid an initial sum of £34 million for Varane's signature, with the deal potentially increasing to £43 million if extra add-ons are obtained during his time at Old Trafford.

The move was delayed due to visa issues, but Varane was granted the go-ahead to fly to the UK from Spain last week, and he is currently quarantining in Manchester in accordance with Government procedures.
Fans have been waiting eagerly for additional information, and journalist Jonathan Shrager has now supplied an update, stating Varane will have his physical on Wednesday before being officially introduced as a Manchester United player.
Manchester United has until midday on Friday to register Varane in order for him to be eligible to make his Premier League debut against Leeds United at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.
So, as long as the medical goes smoothly, Varane will finalize his move to United on Wednesday, becoming the club's third signing of the summer, following the additions of Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton.
Varane should be a good addition to Solskjaer's side given he has been one of Europe's top center-backs in recent years, helping Madrid win a slew of trophies including four Champions Leagues and three La Liga crowns.
The 28-year-old will be an upgrade over Lindelof and Bailly, and he should establish a fine partnership with Maguire in the middle of Manchester United's defense this season.
