Jadon Sancho attends first Manchester United training session following £72.9m transfer

Man Utd has welcomed summer signing Jadon Sancho to training for the first time since his move from Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho was photographed at Manchester United's Carrington training base today (Monday) as he finished his first United training session.

Sancho, 21, was formally introduced as United's second summer signing two and a half weeks ago but has yet to participate in any pre-season training with his new teammates – until today.

After agreeing to a £72.9 million transfer fee with Borussia Dortmund, the England international has signed a five-year term at Old Trafford.

Sancho was granted time off after representing England at the European Championship, although he reported for duties a week later than international teammates Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

The lengthy wait for United supporters is over, though, as Sancho attended his first training session with his new team on Monday morning.

United made the announcement on their official website, with Sancho now battling to be match fit for this weekend's Premier League opening against Leeds.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated over the weekend that Sancho and fellow summer addition Raphael Varane cannot be 'thrown into a game' as United prepares to kick off the Premier League season against Leeds on Saturday.

"The medical with Raphael must be completed," Solskjaer remarked following the win over Everton. "He's isolating at the moment,

we had to wait for visas, unfortunately, it took a few more days than expected but we've got to follow the protocols and rules, it's taken a few more days than we had hoped for, Jadon is in for Monday and hopefully he'll be in decent nick and can be involved."

"This summer, at least everyone has had three weeks off. Others have had four, some have had five, we're still lacking match minutes for a few, but we're getting there, better prepared than last season."

"But we have to get them through a training regime and program; we can't just throw them into a game." "The staff is doing a fantastic job, and the sports science people are working hard to get everyone up to speed as soon as possible."
