Man Utd 'enter Lionel Messi race' and consider sensational late offer to pip PSG

Man Utd 'enter Lionel Messi race' and consider sensational late offer to pip PSG

Manchester United could use the uncertainty surrounding Lionel Messi's future to make a speculative last-minute move to try and pip PSG to the Ballon d'Or king on a free transfer.

During his farewell press conference in Barcelona on Sunday, Messi refused to confirm that he would be joining PSG, instead stating that it was merely a 'possibility.'

While the move to Paris remains a possibility, other teams may use the brief period of uncertainty to make a last-ditch effort to entice the greatest player of all time to join them this summer.

Manchester United, the Premier League's behemoth, appears to be no exception, with the Red Devils rumored to be making a late bid to the Argentina captain as the new season approaches.

Despite the fact that Messi's departure from Barcelona comes just days before the start of the 2021/22 season, there is thought to be plenty of rivalry for his signature.

Duncan Castles informed Ian McGarry on the Transfer Window Podcast that United may be planning an offer for Messi and his young family to consider.

“He's available and looking for a club,” he stated. It will be intriguing to watch what decisions teams make.

“It's fascinating that Manchester United, who have talked about their logical strategy and preparation that have gone into their acquisitions, and who have been swift to execute deals for two crucial players in areas where they needed people in, is saying, ‘Well, can we do something for Messi?'

“I'm not surprised PSG is pushing for it.” Messi is said to have been offered a weekly salary of £570,000 by PSG, which would be significantly greater than what United is presently paying its highest-paid players, David de Gea and Paul Pogba.

As Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pursues Premier League glory, United has already spent the money required to bring in Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

"We have constructed a playing squad with a fair variety of ages," the Norwegian stated last week. "Some really talented young players, some very experienced senior professionals, and some who are right in their prime."

"But what unites everyone, both players and staff, is the hunger and enthusiasm that we all have for success; we are all ready to take that step on our journey, which requires constant evolution." "We have already significantly strengthened our squad for the 2021-22 season with returning players and the signings of Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho, as well as the impending arrival of Raphael Varane."

"The last 10 years have been incredible not just on an emotional, personal, and professional level, and I want to leave you all with the idea that I'm departing having given everything and having experienced unique moments." I wish you all the best, have a wonderful season, and I hope to see you soon. "I adore you."
