In an exclusive interview with Football Insider, the Sunderland great claims that the Red Devils now have two of the best defenders in the world.
Manchester United stated on July 27th that they had reached an agreement in principle with Varane and were finalizing the trade.
The agreement is presently pending a medical examination and the finalization of personal clauses.
Man United's defense has been under scrutiny in recent years, particularly under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's leadership.

Phillips, on the other hand, believes the Red Devils are now capable of fighting for the Premier League title once more.
Phillips told Football Insider's Ben Wild, "You build a good team with a solid defense."
“With Varane joining Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, we have a very good backline.
“Wan-Bissaka is due for a fantastic season, and Shaw had a great summer.
“It seems like Man United is returning to the era when you had your Ferdinands and Vidics,” he says.
“Bringing in experienced players of that caliber, and they have that in Varane; he's amazing.
“I'm sure the players are overjoyed; it instills a lot of confidence, particularly among the strikers.

Varane joins United from Real Madrid, where he won a slew of trophies.
The 28-year-old has won four Champions Leagues and the World Cup with France.
