West Ham Eyeing A Move For Forgotten Man United Man: Shrewd Option For Moyes

West Ham Eyeing A Move For Forgotten Man United Man: Shrewd Option For Moyes

West Ham United are interested in recruiting Manchester United defender Phil Jones, who is currently injured.

The Englishman hasn't played for the Red Devils in almost a year and a half, with his last appearance coming in December of last year.

According to Eurosport, if Jones is available on a free transfer, West Ham United manager David Moyes, who managed Jones at Manchester United, would be interested in signing him. Jones might be offered a contract with the Hammers that is lower than his present income, but with add-ons.

Newcastle United is said to be interested in signing the 29-year-old. Jones has 224 appearances for United in his ten years with the club.

Phil Jones: Was it a wise decision on the club's part?

Phil Jones' Manchester United career hasn't gone as planned, despite the fact that he was projected to be a future Red Devil legend when he first arrived. Injuries at critical times, as well as a persistent lack of consistency, have severely affected his career. Jones has fallen out of favor at Manchester United, and with the addition of Raphael Varane, he will slip even further down the pecking order.

DON'T MISS:

Signing Phil Jones for West Ham could be a risk worth taking, especially if he agrees to lower pay at the club. The London club will require a strong and deep roster for the 2021-22 season, as they will not only contend for local titles, but also compete in the Europa League.

The English defender is an aggressive defender who enjoys nipping in and making interceptions. He also enjoys making forceful tackles and limiting the amount of space available to opposing attackers. Jones is mostly a center defender, but he has also played right back and defensive midfield on occasion.

Jones' career could take a turn for the better at West Ham United, where he will face less pressure than at Manchester United. Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna, and Craig Dawson now make up West Ham's backline, thus he may be a useful addition. Fabian Balbuena's departure at the end of last season frees up a spot in the team for a center defender.

DON'T MISS:

Phil Jones may very well fill that job and provide David Moyes with a viable choice. The Englishman has a lot of experience, can be a good defender on his day, and will most likely be available for free. This appears to be a fantastic fit for both teams and the player, who may only need a confidence boost, and Moyes' willingness to take a chance on him could be just what the Englishman needs to get back on track.
