Real Madrid has reportedly beaten AC Milan to Diogo Dalot, who is expected to depart Manchester United this summer.
Real Madrid is the front-runner in the race to sign Diogo Dalot in the summer transfer window, according to the Spanish website Defensa Central. The 22-year-old Manchester United defender is being pursued by the Spanish giants as a possible replacement for Alvaro Odriozola, with AC Milan close behind.
DON'T MISS:
Diogo Dalot joined Manchester United in the summer of 2018 after Jose Mourinho built up a lot of excitement around him. The 22-year-old has struggled to live up to his billing so far at Old Trafford, especially with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not too fond of him. As a result, the Portugal international spent last season on loan at AC Milan, where he primarily played second fiddle to Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria.
Dalot's future at Manchester United, where he has made 35 appearances, is uncertain, and the Red Devils are set to transfer him this summer.
The teenager, on the other hand, does not have a shortage of suitors, with AC Milan once again interested in signing him, as well as Real Madrid.
When it comes to the right-back position, the Merengues are in a perilous position. Regardless of who is in control of Real Madrid's first team, Alvaro Odriozola has failed to impress. Dani Carvajal had a string of injuries last season, and his fitness is now questionable, to say the least.
DON'T MISS:
While Lucas Vazquez shone as a right-back and right-wing-back in Carvajal's absence last season, it's unclear whether Carlo Ancelotti would use him in both positions again next season. As a result, it's no surprise that Real Madrid is keeping their options open in case Odriozola is sold, with Manchester United's Dalot being considered a possible replacement.
AC Milan has fallen behind Real Madrid in the race to recruit Dalot for the second summer in a row, while the Rossoneri are also interested in Odriozola. Los Blancos have stepped up their efforts to sweep the Portuguese international away from Manchester United, according to the report.
Manchester United, on the other hand, would be willing to sell Dalot after being on the lookout for a right-back this summer. Giovanni Di Lorenzo is the latest defender to be linked with a move to Manchester United. In the case of Dalot, he appears to be on his way out of Manchester United, with Real Madrid reportedly leading the race to sign him.
