TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR INTERESTED IN £50M MANCHESTER UNITED 25-YEAR-OLD

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR INTERESTED IN £50M MANCHESTER UNITED 25-YEAR-OLD

According to The Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Anthony Martial from Manchester United during the summer transfer season.

WHERE DOES THE STORY BEGIN?

DON'T MISS:

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in bringing United forward Anthony Martial to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, according to The Daily Star (9pm).

The Red Devils are looking to offload the France international.

This summer, United bought winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, and the former Premier League champions want to sell Martial now.

The Red Devils are seeking a transfer fee of £50 million for the former AS Monaco player.

DON'T MISS:

According to the source, Tottenham is interested in signing the 25-year-old, but his salaries of £250,000 per week would be a major stumbling barrier, even if the North London club is willing to pay the £50 million transfer cost.

However, there is a chance that Martial will join Spurs.

That is, if United decides to compete with Manchester City for Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane, and Kane is shipped to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a cash-plus-player deal.

IS ANTHONY MARTIAL THE PERFECT FIT FOR TOTTENHAM?

Martial is a capable forward who has performed admirably for United on several occasions, but the 25-year-old is not exactly what Spurs require.

Especially considering the price tag of £50 million.

The France international isn't particularly prolific in front of goal, and he doesn't generate many chances.

Last season, the United no.9 scored four goals and added three assists in 22 Premier League games.

In 16 of the games, Martial started as a striker.

The attacker scored 17 goals and had six assists in the league in 2019-20, while he scored 10 goals and added two assists in 2018-19.

So far in his career, the forward has 55 goals in 167 league appearances for United.

Although Martial is a capable forward, Tottenham should look elsewhere if they are searching for a direct replacement for Kane.

For £50 million, Spurs will almost certainly find a better striker.

In other developments, Cascarino believes the 23-year-old will leave Arsenal and that he will become a 'complete' player there.
