Mike Phelan, Manchester United's assistant manager, has disclosed that the club's dressing room has three primary jokers.
Phelan was named as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's assistant in May 2019 when the Norwegian was permanently installed in the Old Trafford dugout after serving as one of Sir Alex Ferguson's most loyal lieutenants for almost a decade.

The pair have now gone about cleaning up the mess that Jose Mourinho left behind, and they've both spoken about the need to create a major mentality shift at Carrington, which has aided the Reds' current success.
Phelan has now provided a unique look into the United dressing room, stating that there are three players at the club who are the 'jokers' who always lift moods around the training facility.
When asked who the club's biggest joker is, Phelan said, "I think people like Fred and Shaw, those types, and Dan James, he's quite a vibrant character and shows that personality."

"They all have their own small groups, such as the Spanish group or the English group, and sometimes we play games where one country plays the next based on numbers, which presents new obstacles."
It’s amazing really the quality you can get out of that, playing one group against another, maybe Spain against England or something.
“It can get a little fierce at times. We want to create a training situation that is challenging, that’s the most important thing."
