In the wake of reports linking Jessie Lingard with a return to West Ham, he is claimed to have met with Manchester United to discuss his future.

Lingard was transferred on loan to West Ham for the second half of last season, and he had an immediate impact, scoring nine goals and assisting five in just 15 Premier League appearances.

With such form, it's no wonder that West Ham want to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis, according to the Evening Standard.

But, according to a new report from Claret and Hugh, who are on top of West Ham news, a meeting between United and Lingard has taken place, in which both parties have laid their cards on the table.

Lingard is reportedly said to have been given a £30,000-per-week wage boost to stay at Old Trafford for the coming season, but he has remained silent when teammates have questioned about his future.

DON'T MISS:

Meanwhile, United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has hinted at Lingard's future, telling the Evening Standard: "He was one of the positives." He's a Manchester United player who wants to compete for a starting spot.”

That's bad news for West Ham, with all signs pointing to a United stay for Lingard, who appears to have risen in his current club's estimation following that impressive loan term last season.
