Gabriel Marcotti has dismissed reports that Donny van de Beek could leave Manchester United this summer to join Real Madrid on loan.

After a disappointing debut season at Old Trafford following his move to England from Ajax last summer, the Dutch midfielder's predicament has become a discussion point in recent weeks.

DON'T MISS:

Van de Beek only made four Premier League appearances last season, and he only made 15 appearances overall for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The 24-year-old would have preferred more regular playing time, and his lackluster first season in England has fueled rumours about a move away.

Real Madrid is said to be interested in loaning Van de Beek to Manchester United, maybe as part of a deal for Manchester United to purchase Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

DON'T MISS:

ESPN writer Marcotti, on the other hand, has dismissed reports that the midfielder could be on his way to the Bernabeu on a season-long loan this summer.

“It makes zero sense,” Marcotti said when asked about Van de Beek joining Real Madrid on loan. Unless you like Van de Beek so much that you believe he can be rehabilitated.

“He may be part of the Varane deal, where you say, 'Give us Varane and we'll take Van de Beek.' would be the end of the matter.

“You don’t take him on loan and if Van de Beek plays really well, they might want him back or sell him to someone else. That part doesn’t make sense [for Real Madrid].

“I do think Van de Beek would benefit from going on loan somewhere just maybe not Real Madrid. Maybe we can send him to Sevilla with Julen Lopetegui the former Real Madrid manager or Everton. I wouldn’t mind seeing him there.

Manchester United finished second in the Premier League and without a trophy last season.
