Rennes respond to Eduardo Camavinga and say they could be open to a sale

Rennes respond to Eduardo Camavinga and say they could be open to a sale

Rennes has responded to heightened interest in Eduardo Camavinga by indicating that a sale this summer is possible.

According to the Mail, United intends to increase their interest in the Ligue 1 midfielder.

DON'T MISS:

Rennes sporting director Florian Maurice revealed that the 18-year-old has not yet received an offer.

“Honestly, it is impossible to answer since today we have not had a single offer that has come at the president's office,” Maurice said to TV Rennes, as cited by GFFN.

Camavinga's contract is up after one year. Rennes has been attempting unsuccessfully for a year to extend his contract.

Camavinga will not be allowed to go on a free transfer, according to Maurice.

If a contract extension cannot be reached, he is willing to authorise a sale this summer.

“Pre-season begins tomorrow,” the sporting director added. Tomorrow, we'll have a conversation with him to figure out what he wants and how he feels.

“I am calm because there is a circumstance where a player is still at Rennes. The player appears to be attracting the attention of major clubs. Now we'll have to wait and see. Eduardo, I believe, will not want to leave Rennes for nothing. So we'll either reach a deal this summer or find a means to keep him.”

DON'T MISS:

United has a chance to sign Camavinga, and the player could be enticed by such a big move.

Rennes will tell him that staying an extra year is in his best interests, but they want him to commit to more than that.

If he signs a new contract, he will be under contract until 2025 or 2026, at which point Rennes will be able to charge clubs large transfer fees, perhaps preventing him from moving.

Camavinga is in a powerful position right now, where what he wants matters. If he wants to move on, he will almost certainly get it. He has a strong reputation, and with only one year left on his contract, Rennes can only ask for so much.

United will just threaten to wait it out and sign him on a free agent if they ask for too much. Rennes has already showed their hand and made it plain that this is not something they want to happen.
