Manchester United's seven best under-18 players from the 20/21 season

Manchester United's seven best under-18 players from the 20/21 season

Manchester United's under-18 team had an outstanding season in 2020/21. Despite missing out on the championship by a single point, the club had a lot of noteworthy players.

We chose seven of the finest under-23 players earlier this week, but narrowing down the top seven under-18 players proved to be far more difficult.

DON'T MISS:

Because the bar was set so high, Alejandro Garnacho, the third highest striker, didn't quite make the cut. There was also no room for Zidane Iqbal, who was fantastic when he was on the field but had to sit out for several months due to injury.

Omari Forson was another unfortunate omission, while Joe Hugill's performances at this level were not taken into account because he was in the top seven of the under-23s.

Without further ado, here is a look at the best of the under-18s, many of whom, if not all, could make the step up to the 23s next season.

There's just one way to get started. In 21 league games, Charlie McNeill scored 24 goals, averaging one goal every 72 minutes.

In his last seven games, the former City star performed with confidence and provided six assists.

DON'T MISS:

The youthful striker has scored more league goals than any other player in England's under-18 age group.

McNeill has a confidence about him and has improved everyone around him. He has a bright future in front of him.

Isak Hansen-Aaroen, a Norwegian prospect, looks like a future first-team regular. United won 15 of his 16 appearances.

The midfielder assisted United's young team in gaining possession and playmaking from deep and high up the field.

Hansen-Aaroen told VG earlier this month that he intends to play for his first team in a year. That may appear to be a lofty goal, yet it is very feasible. He has the ability.

Svidersky appreciated the opportunity to captain the team, splitting his time between defensive midfield and central defense.

In addition to his 20 starts for the under-18s, the Slovakian made eight appearances for the under-23s.

United won 19 of the 20 games in which he appeared, demonstrating his importance to the team. Regrettably, his sole goal came in a match that he lost.

Charlie Savage has shown this season that he is a United player on merit, not only because of his uncle's name.

With seven assists, he was one of United's most consistent performers for the under-18s. In addition, he scored three goals.

Savage appeared in 23 of the team's 24 games, captaining them once, and appeared to be at ease in a defensive midfield role. Late in the season, he demonstrated his adaptability by stepping in at left-back.

Noam Emeran's first 18 months at United were destroyed by injury, thus this season was all about making up for lost time.

With a succession of eye-catching performances, especially early in the season, he shown that he may be worth the wait.

Emeran got a call-up to United's under-23 side after scoring five goals and providing six assists.

Dillon Hoogewerf's season took a bit to get going, but once he did, he was unstoppable.

In 19 appearances, the Dutchman scored 12 goals and added 11 assists.

Seven of his goals came in the final five games of the season. He also appeared in six under-23 games and contributed an assist, and he will be promoted to the first team next season.

Hoogewerf is an explosive forward who likes to drop deep, and he and McNeill were on the same page by the conclusion of the season.

Bjorn Hardley had a tremendous season on defense this year. He was frequently utilized at left-back in his maiden season with the under-18s. He was very impressive as a centre-back this season.

Hardley had a strong season before being sidelined by injury, captaining the team five times.

He also made an impression in one under-23s game, and he will be expected to produce there on a regular basis next season. While he has a long way to go to show he can one day be first team quality, this was an encouraging season for him to build on.
