Manchester United ‘settle on Paul Pogba transfer price’ after picking replacement

Manchester United ‘settle on Paul Pogba transfer price’ after picking replacement

Paul Pogba could leave Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

With the summer transfer market being open, Manchester United star Paul Pogba's future at the club remains unknown.

DON'T MISS:

According to sources, the Red Devils want £72 million to let the France international leave. If a sale is made, Jack Grealish has already been identified as a possible successor, however, luring him away from Aston Villa will be difficult.

Manchester United felt they'd struck gold when they paid £89 million for Pogba in the summer of 2016.

Under Jose Mourinho, the France international had an immediate impression at Old Trafford, starring in the club's Europa League and EFL Cup victories.

Pogba, on the other hand, has been inconsistent for United in recent years, particularly with the hiring of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.

The 28-year-current old's deal expires in a year, and there's no indication that a prospective extension would be reached.

And, according to RMC Sport's Mohamed Bouhafsi, who was reported by ParisFans, United wants £72 million to allow Pogba to depart despite interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

DON'T MISS:

“Nasser [Al-Khelaifi] was in Nice three days ago with [Mino] Raiola, and the two talked about [Moise] Kean, Bakker's living situation, and Pogba.

“United do not want to lose him, but Pogba does not want to renew his contract. United is seeking €80 million.”

Pogba has previously left United for nothing once, when the World Cup winner chose to join Juventus for nothing in 2012.

They may have to tolerate a recurrence in the midfielder's case, with Juventus also interested.

When Pogba left in 2016, the Old Lady were devastated, and speculation about a possible return has been circulating since the transfer window reopened, with Cristiano Ronaldo being used as bait.

United, on the other hand, would like the Frenchman to stay.

Solskjaer has made it clear that the 28-year-old is vital to his ambitions at Old Trafford, especially as the Norwegian aims for the Premier League crown next season.

However, United may be obliged to sell the midfielder, who attempted to leave the club twice in the summer transfer windows of 2018 and 2019.

After starring for France in the World Cup in Russia, he chose Barcelona as his next destination in 2018.

But the La Liga giants never came close to acquiring Pogba, especially after Ed Woodward turned down their low bid of £45 million plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.

The former Le Havre youth then set his sights on a move to Real Madrid in 2019.

He frequently complimented the La Liga giants, confessing that playing under childhood hero Zinedine Zidane, who was in charge of Los Blancos at the time, would be a dream come true.

United, on the other hand, dug in their heels and made it clear that Pogba would not be transferred under any circumstances.

As previously said, United appears to have chosen Grealish as a replacement.

Aston Villa's Dean Smith has slapped a £100 million price tag on their best asset to stave off possible buyers.

Pogba appeared to criticize Solskjaer lately, stating that he would prefer to play higher up the pitch, as he does for his nation, rather than being an anchorman in the middle of the park.

“It's true that it was different at Juventus than it was at Manchester,” he said.

“In a 5-3-2, we were playing three in the middle. I had the freedom to attack, but I had to be in the box. It was a requirement.

“I have the freedom to go into the box in Manchester, but the priority is to play and defend.

“We also play a 4-2-3-1 in the France team. I'm more active in the transition, in the building process. But I have more leeway to go into the box and make forward runs than I did in Manchester.

“At the same time, when you have Grizou [Antoine Griezmann] and Kylian [Mbappe], you don't want to or need to invade their spaces.”

“I'd like to play more offensively,” he continued. That's what I'd like to achieve: 15 goals per season.

“However, we must place ourselves at the service of the group. Manchester, like Les Bleus, will always put the team before the individual.

“To be honest, I still like going a little deeper. When Patrick [Vieira] stated that he preferred me at Juventus, I understood that he meant that I was able to express myself better higher up, with my skill.

“However, the collective will always take precedence.”
