Scotland fans go crazy for him after performance against England

Luke Shaw has been waiting for this moment for a long time.

After putting in the effort to stay injury-free and establish himself as one of Manchester United's most reliable players, a call-up for his first big international tournament since 2014 was well-deserved.

DON'T MISS:

Scott McTominay was one of Scotland's heroes in a 0-0 draw with England at Wembley.

It has to be admitted that England was dreadfully uninteresting. Up front, Harry Kane was a shell of his former self, and the Three Lions struggled to create opportunities.

Jadon Sancho was an unused substitute, while Marcus Rashford only played the final 14 minutes.

But, at some point, you have to put England's awful performance aside and give Scotland credit.

Applause goes out to Scott McTominay in particular. As part of a three-man central defense, the Manchester United midfielder was lining up at the back.

He had played at center-back in qualifying for Scotland, so it wasn't completely foreign to him.

Stepping up and doing it against Kane, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, and the rest of the team was a different job altogether, and McTominay rose to the occasion admirably.

DON'T MISS:

One image of McTominay fighting off England attackers in a goalmouth scramble in injury time could become iconic among Scotland fans and said volumes about the United star's dedication.

McTominay got off to a rough start, giving the ball away and giving England a chance. After that, he and Scotland both settled.

McTominay helped Scotland earn a point by winning two aerial duels, making two interceptions, and clearing two balls.

It was almost a legendary Scotland away triumph if it hadn't been for a Reece James clearance off the line at the other end.

Scotland's first game versus Czech Republic was a disappointment. This was precisely what they required.

McTominay's performance was outstanding; we just hope Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wasn't watching, because if he was, he would start playing him at center-back as well, abandoning his summer pursuit of Raphael Varane or another defensive target.

In the eyes of Scotland fans, McTominay is the best defender in the planet.

Here's how they reacted to his "extraordinary" performance...
