Manchester United reportedly pushing ahead with Kieran Trippier move

Manchester United are said to be moving forward with plans to sign Kieran Trippier.

According to the MEN, United are serious about signing the Atletico Madrid right-back.Trippier is one of England's four right-backs in the Euro 2020 squad.

DON'T MISS:

Wasn't United previously linked?

Yes, United were linked with a move for Trippier in December, according to Sky Sports.

A January transfer was called off after it was revealed that he was facing a lengthy ban for betting irregularities in his move to Atletico Madrid.

According to BBC Sport, FIFA overturned the ban earlier this year, and the charges against Trippier are no longer pending.

The former Tottenham Hotspur right-back went on to win La Liga with Atletico Madrid.

This could be the ideal time to relocate.

Trippier could decide to return to the UK after achieving his goal of winning a trophy in Madrid.

Trippier was a member of Manchester City's academy before leaving to join Burnley in search of regular football. He was then signed by Tottenham, where he helped them reach the Champions League final in 2019.

DON'T MISS:

One of Trippier's strengths is his crossing ability, which allowed him to effectively link up with Harry Kane at Tottenham. Last season, he had six assists for Atletico Madrid.

He also possesses a free-kick, as evidenced by his World Cup semi-final goal against Croatia in 2018.

The ideal United profile

Trippier is the right profile for United because his age, 30, does not jeopardize the long-term development of Aaron Wan-Bissaka or prospect Ethan Laird.

He could sign a three-year contract and provide healthy competition on the left side, as Alex Telles has done for Luke Shaw.

According to the MEN, Trippier could be available for less than the £20 million Atletico paid for him in 2019. His contract is set to expire in 2023.
