Manchester United fans have every right to be impatient: Don't let this be an unbearable repeat of 2020

We all expect Manchester United will turn a new leaf in the transfer market every summer. And it appears that the club is back to square one each time.

a

This year, perhaps, will be different. The transfer window only opened a few days ago.

DON'T MISS:

The club's official website marked the window's opening with a photo of Edinson Cavani signing in October. It was a symbolic reminder of a club that waited until the last minute to complete four of five signings last summer — one of which did not go through and had to be finished in January.

As a result, there is some fear and resignation among fans that this summer will be more of the same. Surely not, right?

The early indicators were promising, with German broadcaster Sport1 suggesting United was in discussion with Dortmund last weekend.

This has subsequently been backed up a little, with BILD claiming that United has yet to make a proposal. The chances of reaching an agreement before Euro 2020 are rapidly dwindling.

It's Groundhog Day again.

DON'T MISS:

Instead of a fresh start and a new attitude, United supporters are stuck hearing the same old reports every day, although with tiny variations.

On Twitter, some fans joked that seeing various journalists' updates on the Sancho situation is like watching classmates repeat each other's homework with tiny variations.

From the outside, it appears that little progress has been made since last summer, with United dealing with middlemen and representatives rather than Dortmund. What happened to one-on-one communication?

Insider information Fabrizio Romano manages to upset United fans by unwittingly repeating himself with each update. However, it is not his fault that United is progressing at a snail's pace, if at all.

The terrible side of this is that, despite the fact that it is just June 10, frustration is increasing. United appears to have squandered an early opportunity to complete business before the Euros, and the situation will most likely linger on into July.

Because United's business revolves around Sancho, everything else is pushed back to August.

It may be simplistic to simply say, "Pay the money and go on," yet that is exactly where we are right now.

United supporters have every reason to be irritated.

Supporters of the United have every reason to be upset. The club has been without a trophy for four years, while boisterous neighbors City have just won the league.

Joel Glazer, a co-owner, has committed to invest. But we all know that Glazer's assurances are hollow.

Sancho is a player United should have signed earlier this year. This is the business of 2020 extending into 2021. It's obstructing other areas that need to be fixed, such as central midfield, where Paul Pogba's inevitable departure is a ticking timebomb that the club is ignoring with its fingers in their ears.

Sancho was first linked with United in 2019, according to Sky. Although it is widely acknowledged that United are the frontrunners, the club's reluctance to conclude a deal must be wearing on his patience.

From the standpoint of United fans, it's almost to the point where the fun and excitement has worn off. Is Sancho really worth the trouble? [Indeed, he is]

It seems as if a whole summer of this would be awful. Our request to the club is that they put an end to their hesitation, complete the transaction, and move on to the next one. Alternatively, if it is simply too difficult, go on and sign new players. Nobody wants 2020 to happen again.

It would be fantastic if we could reach an agreement over the next 24 or 48 hours. But we've been saying it for a fortnight, and we said it all last summer, just to be disappointed.
