Man Utd could turn to Chelsea, Barcelona or Juventus if Dortmund transfer talks break down

Man Utd could turn to Chelsea, Barcelona or Juventus if Dortmund transfer talks break down

Manchester United are hoping to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, but they have three other targets in case the deal with the England star goes through.

Manchester United considers Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund to be their top summer transfer target, and the Old Trafford club is hopeful of landing him.

DON'T MISS:

According to reports this week, Sancho's camp is also interested in the move, however, a deal is unlikely to be reached until after the player's time with the England squad at Euro 2020.

United's long-running pursuit of Sancho has failed to bear fruit in the last two transfer windows, but Dortmund's asking price is said to have lowered as Sancho's contract nears the end of its two-year term, giving hope that a deal can be reached.

Man United, on the other hand, believes they have other choices in the transfer market as they seek a new offensive option for their squad, and are reportedly unwilling to pay more than £70 million for the 21-year-old.

If a deal for Sancho does not materialize, United can focus on one of three potential replacements.

DON'T MISS:

Ousmane Dembele's contract at Barcelona expires in a year, and despite the club's desire to prolong his stay, he has yet to agree to fresh terms.

Dembele was a standout for Dortmund in 2016/17, but he has failed to live up to his £135 million price tag for Barcelona, scoring 18 league goals in 81 La Liga games.

If he does not sign a new contract, he will be permitted to depart Barcelona this summer for a much smaller cost than he arrived.

However, United are rumored to be interested in re-signing club star Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, and may prefer him to Dembele.

According to some sources, representatives for the Portuguese star approached United officials in an attempt to arrange a transfer for the 36-year-old.

Despite ending as the league's top scorer with 29 goals from 33 games last season, Ronaldo was dissatisfied by Juventus' performances as they failed to win Serie A for the first time in a decade, despite him being the league's top scorer.

Despite already having Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood, United are likely to be receptive to adding another talented English forward to their ranks.

Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea is allegedly on the market after struggling to get regular playing time since Thomas Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Bayern Munich is also interested in the 20-year-old, but his positional versatility makes him a viable option for United if their other transfer attempts fail.

Despite Uruguay veteran Edinson Cavani agreeing to a new year's contract, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is open to bringing in another centre-forward.

But Sancho is his main aim, and he has some excellent Plan Bs in Dembele, Ronaldo, and Hudson-Odoi in case he fails to sign the Dortmund winger.
