Man Utd and Dortmund hit stumbling block in his transfer negotiations

Man Utd and Dortmund hit stumbling block in his transfer negotiations

Manchester United's transfer talks with Borussia Dortmund over Jadon Sancho have hit a stumbling block.

The England international is set to become their first summer signing. It follows their failed pursuit last year, but the Red Devils are determined not to make the same mistakes this time.

DON'T MISS:

Liverpool has not made an offer for the player, and Chelsea has always been interested, leaving United in pole position to sign the 21-year-old.

Furthermore, Sancho is expected to sign for a much lower fee than the £109m quoted last summer, with a fee in the region of £80m to £85m.

This time around, talks have gone relatively smoothly, but there have been one hiccup overpayments, according to the Mirror.

Dortmund, according to the report, has told United to pay the fee all at once, whereas Old Trafford officials would prefer to pay in instalments.

It remains to be seen whether this hiccup develops into something more damaging to a deal, but all parties are cautiously optimistic that a transfer will take place as things stand.

DON'T MISS:

The Bundesliga club has insisted that they have a gentleman's agreement with Sancho that if their asking price is met, he can leave.

However, it must be completed by a self-imposed deadline, which United did not meet last season.

Furthermore, Sancho appears to be content to leave Dortmund and return to England after a four-year absence.

Despite a slow start, the Englishman had another fantastic year in Germany, finishing with 16 goals and 20 assists.

The Mirror report that the Camberwell-born ace has agreed on terms over personal terms that would see him stay at United until 2026.

It is a statement of intent from the Red Devils, who were guilty of dallying over transfers last summer.

Solskjaer wants to get his business done as soon as possible, and once Sancho is secured, they will look for a centre-back, with Real Madrid's Raphael Varane the top target.
