Growing belief’ Man Utd will land Euro 2020 star after passing final ‘audition’

According to a source, Manchester United has a "increasing optimism" that they can solve a problem position by signing a player who is currently starring at Euro 2020.

When it comes to the summer transfer window, Manchester United has a lot of irons in the fire. The Red Devils are still in the running for Jadon Sancho a year after their initial contact.

DON'T MISS:

Borussia Dortmund has been rough on the England winger in the past, but Man United will not be deterred this time.

At right-back, Kieran Trippier is a target to put pressure on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but the most uncertainty is at center-back.

Because the club has been connected with a slew of potential partners for Harry Maguire.

Raphael Varane has been closely linked, and according to various reports, a £50 million bid was turned down. Real are apparently demanding £80 million, but Man United will not be dictated to on this time because they have lots of options.

Sergio Ramos, a free agent, has been touted, as has a surprising Premier League name. Pau Torres, a fellow Spaniard, has now become the center of attention.

DON'T MISS:

The 24-year-old Villarreal defender has a £43 million release clause in his contract. According to the Manchester Evening News, there is a 'growing notion' that he may soon make Old Trafford his home.

They claim to have made ‘progress' in their investigation.

Torres was thought to have been on the club's radar for some time, and he passed his final 'audition' when he starred in Villarreal's Europa League final victory on penalties.

Torres' profile as a left-footer would appear to be a wonderful fit alongside Maguire, and club executives were ‘impressed' with his performance.

They do, however, limit any expectations of a quick arrival. If a deal is agreed, he will not join up with his new teammates until the end of Euro 2020.

Man United cards are laid out on the table by Lingard.

Jesse Lingard, meanwhile, claims he has "never doubted" his abilities and has reminded Manchester United that he wants "regular" game time next season.

Lingard's comeback in 2020-21 was one of the season's biggest stories. He was frozen out at Manchester United for the majority of the season until he was loaned out to West Ham in January. The pairing was made in heaven, as the midfielder astonished the Premier League with nine goals and four assists in 16 appearances.

Now that Lingard's loan at West Ham has ended, the emphasis has shifted to his long-term future.

If West Ham can afford it, they may be interested in signing Lingard on a permanent basis. He may, however, have been given a second chance in Manchester.

Lingard outlined his needs and expectations to Sky Sports ahead of the forthcoming season.
