NOEL GALLAGHER DELIVERS LIVERPOOL VERDICT AFTER MANCHESTER UNITED JIBE

NOEL GALLAGHER DELIVERS LIVERPOOL VERDICT AFTER MANCHESTER UNITED JIBE

Noel Gallagher told BBC Sport that Liverpool has been "a bit rubbish" for the majority of the season, which is one of the reasons Manchester United are in their current position.

The Oasis singer recognizes that the rest of the Premier League will be "better by 10%" next season, but he also stated that his beloved Manchester City, who reclaimed the English crown from Liverpool, will be "better by 10%."

DON'T MISS:

Last season, Liverpool was celebrating their Premier League title win, but an injury-plagued season has seen the Etihad team cruise to another top prize.

But Gallagher couldn't help but poke fun at those on the other side of Manchester, claiming that they will be "lucky" to finish fourth next season, and explaining why.

“No, because we're going to be better next season because we've been without our main striker for the majority of the season,” Gallagher said.

“So, just as everyone else is going to improve by 10%, we are going to improve by 10% as well. So, I'm not sure United has a chance – unless they get Erling Braut Haaland and Harry Kane, as well as a decent holding midfielder, which I doubt.

DON'T MISS:

“United have only benefited from Chelsea and Liverpool being mediocre for the majority of the season. I believe they will be lucky to finish fourth next season.”

While Liverpool's title defence has been abysmal, whether for good or ill, they can at least blame it on the fact that their main man has been out for the majority of the season.

It's never easy to defend a title, which is why so few teams have done it, but Pep Guardiola will find that those across the City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Leicester, and other potential surprise challengers will be coming for their throats next season.

If Manchester City wins the title again, it will not be as easy as it has been for the majority of this season.
