Manchester United transfer news: Club in talks over 'top priority' deal for teenager

Manchester United have outbid Ajax for FC Nordsjaelland forward Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to Football Insider.

What is the most recent transfer rumor involving Kamaldeen Sulemana?

DON'T MISS:

According to Football Insider, Manchester United was informed that Ajax had submitted a bid for Sulemana and dispatched a delegation to Denmark to try to work out a deal.

According to the report, United are expected to have outbid Ajax during negotiations yesterday, and they have made Sulemana a top priority after extensive scouting of the forward this season.

How much will Sulemana set you back?

According to Football Insider, Ajax has already made a bid of £12 million. However, according to the report, the Danish club is looking for a figure closer to £15 million for the versatile forward. Despite his asking price, the Ghanaian winger is only worth £2.7 million according to Transfermarkt. However, there is clearly enough potential in the youngster for his club to demand much more.

Why is Sulemana United's top priority?

The 19-year-old has been identified as a top priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, and his promising form this season helps to explain United's desire to bring him to Old Trafford.

DON'T MISS:

According to Transfermarkt, the Danish club's right-footed left-winger has ten goal contributions in 20 league games this season.

United's main rivals in the race to sign Sulemana are Dutch giants Ajax, who have also been in contact with him and, according to Football Insider, their director of football Marc Overmars was recently in the stands watching him play.

Is Sulemana the solution to United's right-wing woes?

While Sulemana provides United with a long-term solution to their lack of truly elite options on the right flank, he is unlikely to be a first-team necessity right now.

Next season, the club should aim to close the gap on Manchester City, so bringing in a bigger name, such as reported target Jadon Sancho, maybe the better option.

Not only would the 21-year-old be a long-term investment, but he'd also help United right away.

Sancho has been the joint-second best player in the Bundesliga this season, according to his WhoScored rating (7.58). He also ranks third in the league in key passes per game, with 2.7 per game, and has 11 assists.

In comparison to Sulemana, he has already played in the Champions League and for a well-known club. It appears inevitable that the Ghanaian will take much longer to settle at Old Trafford and develop to the level required for United to compete with City next season.
