'Manchester United Ownership Is None Of Gary Neville's Business'

Richard Keys has alleged that Gary Neville instigated 'riots' after Manchester United fans' demonstrations, which resulted in the team's game against Liverpool being called off on Sunday.

The extraordinary scenes outside Old Trafford over the weekend, with supporters condemning the Glazers' possession of the club, drew widespread notice.

Although most citizens joined the bulk of the demonstrators, there were those that went too extreme, and some commentators totally misread the tone, blaming the demonstrations on United's lack of results on the field.

Since the European Super League nonsense, Neville and Jamie Carragher have been among the most outspoken backers of fans complaining against team managers, both at United and the rest of the big six.

Although others have praised their efforts, disgraced former Sky Sports host Keys, who quit the company in 2011 after making negative remarks regarding Sian Massey-Ellis, has chosen to criticize the pair and others.

In a blog post, the 64-year-old accused Neville of inciting protests and told him that who controls which clubs is none of his own.

""Enough Gary, I want to see football matches, not riots," the beIN Sports host began his epic rant, "Plainly no one at your primary employer has the nerve to suggest something to you - so let me."

"It just doesn't matter to me who controls Manchester United, Arsenal, Valencia, Salford, or Sheffield. But for Salford, neither is it yours. It's not either Jamie Carragher's, Rio Ferdinand's, Jake Humphries's, or Gary Lineker's.

DON'T MISS:

"Our work is straightforward and fortunate. Our task is to announce football games. It is not our responsibility to incite protests. And make no mistake: what happened on Sunday at Old Trafford was a riot. And it's a shame. I shudder to consider what the outrage might have been if Liverpool supporters had been held responsible."

Keys, who has previously argued that human rights problems in Qatar aren't that grim, went even deeper, joining Graeme Souness in claiming that the protests were caused solely by a lack of progress on the field.

"It was NOT a nonviolent protest. One police officer sustained a life-changing injury. After being hit by a thug wielding a glass bottle, he may have been blinded.

"What was the point of it all? Was it retaliation for the ESL? No, it does not. But would you consider it if anyone told you? If the outcry was against the ESL, why haven't City supporters come out with their own wrecking ball? Or Chelsea supporters? Or are they Spurs fans?

Was it a protest over Manchester United's ownership? No, it does not. Some, though, would have you think otherwise. It was an expression of dissatisfaction with the fact that United is no longer the main power in English football.

"I'm not a fan of the Glazers. Sir Alex Ferguson, on the other hand, never had an issue with them."

Keys, who previously said that Pep Guardiola wanted to employ Sam Allardyce as a defensive coach in order to win the league, seems to have overlooked the Chelsea fans did protest.

It's not the first time the host has proven to be a dinosaur, but screaming unpopular stuff is definitely the only way he will remain relevant.
