Man United receive boost with Villarreal star reportedly ruled out of Europa League final

According to sources, Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze would face an uphill fight to be ready for the Europa League final versus Manchester United.

With a goal and four assists, Chukwueze has been a crucial figure in Villarreal's run to the final, but manager Unai Emery could be unable to call on the 21-year-old after he was forced off in the semi-final second leg against Arsenal.

DON"T MISS:

The Nigerian, a dangerous and pacy winger, went down off the ball in the first half at the Emirates and had to be carried away on a stretcher.

According to Diario AS (via Football Espana), Chukwueze sustained a hamstring tear in the match against Arsenal.

Although Emery would allegedly offer the youngster every opportunity to heal fully, a complete recovery from a broken hamstring in the next 17 days seems impossible.

DON"T MISS:

Villarreal are looking for their first big European trophy since reaching the Europa League semi-finals three times previously.

Under Manuel Pellegrini, the Yellow Submarine has made it to the last four of the Champions League in 2005/06.

Villarreal met United in the group stages that season and the clubs played out two 0-0 ties before delivering two further goalless stalemates in the 2008/09 group stages.

Emery is attempting to win the Europa League for the fourth time since leading Sevilla to a hat-trick of victories between 2014 and 2016. In 2019, he was also a beaten finalist with Arsenal, falling to Chelsea.

In the lead-up to the Europa League final in Gdansk, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United could compete for five games in 14 days.

After visiting Aston Villa on Sunday, the Red Devils will host Leicester City and Liverpool at Old Trafford within 48 hours.

Fulham will also pay a visit to Old Trafford on May 18, five days before their final Premier League game of the season, away to Wolves.
