How Manchester United should line up vs Aston Villa in Premier League fixture

How Manchester United should line up vs Aston Villa in Premier League fixture

Manchester United will aim to continue their impressive domestic away streak as they head to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team has gone undefeated in their last 24 Premier League away games (W15 D9), falling only three games shy of Arsenal's all-time top-flight streak set between April 2003 and September 2004.

DON"T MISS:

In terms of early team news, Anthony Martial and Daniel James are both doubts after missing the midweek match against AS Roma, while Phil Jones is out for the long term.

Due to the 'impossible' fixture calendar, United would have to use their team depth to the fullest over the next five days, but there could be a chance to go full power against Villa on Sunday.

Henderson and Lindelof are logical recalls to the backline, although Wan-Bissaka and Shaw remain indispensable after a poor second-half performance in Rome.

Matic would be a logical choice alongside McTominay in a Villa side without Jack Grealish, but otherwise, the choices seem to be minimal. Pogba should begin on the left, with Cavani resting. Elanga could make his debut off the bench against the team he saw in preseason.

 DON"T MISS:

Luckhurst, Samuel

The middle game against Leicester is the most critical of the next three for United, so those players should be saved for Tuesday.

Henderson, Lindelof, McTominay, and Rashford would all return. Even though United's assault lacks stellar starting choices to replace the regulars, naming Fernandes as a backup will be prudent.

Juan Mata has not started a league game since November and was last in the starting lineup in January, but he is expected to play in the run-in. Amad is still overdue for his first start, which needs to come earlier rather than later.

Tyrone Marshall.

Guessing Solskjaer's starting XI for these three games in six days would be extremely challenging because I don't see more than three or four players starting per game.

Of course, Henderson in goal could be one of them, and the best back four in front of him could compete on a daily basis. Provided that Lindelof was rested in Rome and the full-backs only played 45 minutes, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, and Shaw would start.

At Villa Park, the midfield foundation can also be rotated, with McTominay and Matic coming on, allowing Fred to be spared for the two Old Trafford games. After playing 84 minutes in Rome, starting Fernandes in all three games will be a gamble, so Van de Beek will start against Villa and Fernandes will return for Leicester and Liverpool.

Greenwood has the advantage of youth on his hand, as he can start again after 90 minutes, while Pogba can start after an hour in Rome. It makes sense to rest Cavani here and hope he will play twice at Old Trafford, which means Rashford can start in the center.
