United also joined the competition to sign 28-year-old Sam Johnstone as a substitute.

According to reports, they will face rivalry from both Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, with the latter now considered the favorite to sign the Englishman.

DON'T MISS:

Johnstone lived almost ten years in Manchester before joining West Brom on a permanent basis a few years ago.

With The Baggies, Johnstone's stock has steadily grown, especially this season, where he has put in some incredible performances.

United is looking for someone to challenge Henderson for the first-choice place, and I have no doubts about Johnstone's potential to do so.

In terms of a sale fee, West Brom is asking at about £18 million to sell, which is likely to be more than the Red Devils are willing to bid.

DON'T MISS:

It is worth recalling that Johnstone's new deal ends in 2022, forcing West Brom to make a decision.

I'd be thrilled if this offer came to fruition. Johnstone is an excellent number two.

He is someone who understands the team inside and out, and he will be given plenty of playing time in cup competitions. Furthermore, if Henderson has a hiccup, Johnstone is more than capable of taking over the starting position.

Will a transfer to Manchester United for Sam Johnstone make sense? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
