Eric Bailly has threatened to leave Manchester United if he does not receive sufficient playing time in the future.

In an interview with The Times, the Ivorian responded boldly to a question – despite having recently renewed his contract, signing a deal that will last until 2024.

DON'T MISS:

There is no denying that Bailly has had injury issues, making it difficult for him to be a consistent first-choice option at center-back.

Furthermore, there is a chance he will not be named to the starting lineup for tonight's Europa League final. Despite the fact that Harry Maguire is likely to be ruled out.

According to the Times, Bailly stated, "Before signing the contract, I wanted to be clear about my future in the team." If I'm going to get minutes and if I'm going to be OK, because I'm aware of my history of injuries.

“However, I'm back and feeling strong and fit. I believe I can perform at the level required by a top club like Manchester United.

DON'T MISS:

“I spoke with him [Solskjaer], and he said he wanted me to stay. The most important aspect of the renewal was the conversation we had: we sat down, talked, and he told me what he expected from me and that he wanted me to continue.

It is always beneficial to compete in order to improve. I simply state that I wish to remain in case I am given the opportunity to play. I don't want to be a starter one game and a sub the next five.

“If that happens, I'll have to find another solution.” The new contract is satisfactory, but if I am unable to play, I will be willing to consider other offers.”

I understand Bailly's point of view, but the timing of this interview is odd given that everyone knows the manager is already stressed about who will start between the sticks.

This could increase the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he names his team tonight, but I've seen enough to believe he can handle it. The manager has a tough exterior.
