Manchester United is never out of the news, and two of the biggest stories this weekend have to do with Sir Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neither legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson nor Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo are directly connected to the club any longer.

But that doesn't mean their names are no longer mentioned in connection with the Red Devils.

Ferguson discussed the difficult task of managing against Lionel Messi in an interview reminiscing about his time at Manchester United.

While Ronaldo has reportedly discussed a return to Old Trafford with current United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Messi annihilated the Red Devils and was in a different league than anyone else on the pitch at Wembley that night.

Ferguson has reflected on the loss and believes he could have beaten Messi and co. if he had told Ji-sung-Park to mark him.

DON'T MISS:

He admits that not doing so is one of his biggest regrets from his glittering career as a football manager.

Ferguson told Sport Bible, "That's where I lost the final against Barcelona at Wembley." "At halftime, I should have changed and put Ji-sung Park on Messi."

"I made a mistake... I was going to do it at halftime, but then I thought, 'Well, we just equalized before halftime, they might see the game differently, we might grow into the game better.'

"In the last 10 minutes of that half, we were actually quite good." We came in, and we could have taken the lead.

"However, if I had put Ji-sung Park up against Messi, I believe we would have won." I truly believe it."

Ronaldo is frequently linked with a return to Manchester United.

However, according to the Spanish newspaper AS, a transfer may finally take place next month when the summer transfer window opens.

According to reports, Solskjaer has already spoken with Ronaldo.

He allegedly assured the striker of his importance to Manchester United and revealed his plans for next season.

Ronaldo is said to be willing to take a pay cut to return to Old Trafford, while Juventus is willing to accept around £21.5 million to sell.
