Dean Henderson had another good day for Manchester United when they left Premier League rivals City waiting for the crown.

The Cumbrian was favoured in goal once more when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team defeated Aston Villa 3-1.

DON"T MISS:

It was Whitehaven's 24th first-team game of the season and 11th in the Premier League.

With four games remaining, second-placed United is 10 points behind likely champions City.

Henderson's most recent outing underlined the 24-year-rising old's standing as Old Trafford's first-choice striker.

DON"T MISS:

David de Gea, who started the team's midweek Europa League semi-final against Roma, came off the bench this afternoon.

Former Carlisle academy keeper Henderson was defeated by Bertrand Traore's opener before Manchester United responded with a penalty from Bruno Fernandes and goals from Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani.

As Solskjaer's team battled back, the Cumbrian made strong saves from Ollie Watkins, Traore, and Anwar El Ghazi.

He was later implicated in the event in which Villa's Watkins was sent off for allegedly diving.

Henderson's extended first-team standing would boost both his long-term goals at Old Trafford and his England aspirations.

Carlisle would also profit from the offer that brought him to Old Trafford as a 14-year-old.

United also indicated that they would gain "valuable money" from the contract, but have claimed that revenue from Henderson's first-team success will ever "transform" the Blues.

According to recent accounts, Carlisle was paid £10,000 for each first-team appearance. The Cumbrians have not elaborated on the deal's terms.
