Trippier's performances for Atletico Madrid earned him a call-up to the most recent England squad ahead of Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

And, according to The Athletic, Trippier wishes to "return to England in the summer" amid "his performance under Diego Simeone and the club's wish for Trippier to sign a new deal."

Trippier's contract at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium is about to expire, and this summer "might be Atletico's only opportunity to negotiate a transfer fee for him."

Man United are ‘looking for rivalry' for Wan-Bissaka, according to The Athletic, and the Premier League team ‘considered Trippier in January and are thought to be involved.

Trippier is also reported to be ‘on the map' at Everton, while Paris Saint-Germain – run by former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino – is said to ‘admire' the 30-year-old.

Meanwhile, Luis Suarez's 88th-minute winner against Osasuna on Sunday has placed Atletico Madrid on the verge of winning La Liga for the first time since 1996.

Simeone's team was on the verge of a shock loss after Ante Budimir headed the tourists ahead with 14 minutes left.

However, Atletico replacement Renan Lodi scored in the 82nd minute before Suarez's late winner.

Atletico, champions in 2014 under Simeone, lead Real Madrid by two points going into the final round of fixtures next Sunday.

Trippier tweeted after the game, "What a comeback by the players." As a community, we stayed together and worked hard. One more game, and then the grand finale! “Vamos!”
