Wayne Rooney has announced that Teden Mengi, a loanee from Manchester United, will miss the rest of the season due to injury.
This season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sent some promising Manchester United youngsters on loan, allowing them to continue their progress away from Old Trafford.

Teden Mengi, the center-half, is one of them.
Personally, I expected him to be a regular in Manchester United's first team by now.
Heck, he's more than capable of doing just that.
Solskjaer, on the other hand, felt otherwise, sending Mengi to Derby County to serve under Wayne Rooney's watchful eye.
Unfortunately, his time with the Rams was cut short due to injury.
Rooney has announced that the United starlet has suffered an injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

“Mengi will miss the remainder of the season and will return to Manchester United today.”
Rooney told the media, and the official Derby County Twitter account confirmed the news.

It's not that bad, but he won't be able to play again in time.
It's comforting to learn Mengi was "fantastic" in a league as physically challenging as the Championship.
However, it is cruel that his season has been cut too abruptly short.
Mengi has now returned to Old Trafford, but it won't deter Derby County from wanting to get him back to Pride Park for the 2021/22 season if it's possible.
I'm hoping that Solskjaer gives Mengi a thorough examination this summer before making a call about his future.
Hopefully, the youth will be offered the opportunity to play in a few pre-season fixtures, and, as I previously said, he should be part of Manchester United's first-team setup.
Teden, please get better fast!
