According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United legend Gary Neville is skeptical that Ed Woodward's resignation was motivated by reservations about the European Super League (ESL).
After the European Super League preparations fell apart on Tuesday, the 49-year-old tendered his resignation.

According to the BBC, Woodward's decision was motivated by the fact that he did not accept the club's attempts to participate in the ESL.
Given that he resigned from his posts at UEFA as soon as the Super League was revealed and only left the top spot at United as things began to fall apart, the BBC's story seems to be more nonsense than fact.
Neville clearly believes so, as shown by his use of Twitter to ridicule the press.
The United legend, an outspoken opponent of the ESL, responded with a single emoticon expressing his delight at the discovery.

Neville's reaction is not unusual.
After all, UEFA president Aleksander Caferin named Woodward as one of the club executives who engaged in bad faith negotiations with the European governing body.
Sharing name room with Florentino Perez and Andrea Agnelli does nothing to redeem Woodward.
United supporters will hope that Woodward's departure serves as a trigger for the Glazers to sell the club in the future.
