Manchester United legend Nobby Stiles dies at the age of 78 after a long illness.
Nobby Stiles, was among the England team that won the World Cup in 1966, has died aged 78 after sustaining a long illness.
Nobby, who was born in the city Collyhurst, was also part of the Man United team which became the first English club to win the European Cup two seasons later when they defeated Benfica in the final at Wembley.

According to the statement issued by the Stiles, family read: 'Our family is sad to announce that one of us Nobby Stiles has passed away peacefully today surrounded by his family after a long sickness.
The Stiles family kindly requests privacy at this sad moment.'
Nobby Stiles was well known for playing a key role in neutralizing the threat of Portuguese star Eusebio in the World Cup semi-final. He made 28 caps, the lowest number of any of the World Cup-winning side.
He agreed on apprentice terms with Manchester United in 1959, at a time when the Old Trafford club was still recovering from the Munich air disaster a year earlier in which eight players were killed.
He later won the Premier League title with the Red Devils in 1965 and 1967, before the continental success the next year.
The former Man United player was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease more than 18-year-ago.
The former England international Peter Reid was one of the first to pay tribute to Nobby Stiles through his social media.

Nobby Stile left Manchester United in 1971, in other to join Middlesbrough and Preston.
