Man Utd lead to finally secure signing of £115,000 a week star

Manchester United has long been linked with Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez, and recent reports suggest that the Red Devils are in pole position to sign him.

The 20-time English champions were close to agreeing on a lucrative deal to hire the Spanish international a year ago, but the midfielder chose to stay at the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to a report published today by The Sunday People (press image below), Man Utd and arch-rivals Liverpool are both interested in luring the Spanish international, with the Old Trafford club in pole position to capture the La Roja star this summer.

Saul's current contract with the Rojiblancos expires in 2026 and includes a £125 million buyout clause. The reigning La Liga winners, on the other hand, might sell him for roughly £35 million to £40 million.

DON'T MISS:

The central midfielder currently makes roughly £115,000 per week in terms of pay (The Sunday People).

According to the British publication, Diego Simeone's side has enabled the player's agent, who will travel to England, to reach a speedy arrangement for Saul's transfer. The midfielder, on the other hand, wants to settle his future in the next weeks, when the La Liga and Premier League seasons begin (August 14).

Man United are losing optimism that record signing Paul Pogba will sign a contract extension, according to ESPN, and the French international could go. If that happens, Saul Niguez, a proven quality midfielder, should be a good replacement in the center of the park. What are your thoughts?

We'll keep you updated on how the transfer saga plays out in the coming days.
