Nemanja Matic has expressed his joy at seeing Juan Mata, who he describes as "fantastic," extend his stay at Manchester United for another season.
Mata's future at Old Trafford has been a topic of discussion as his contract with the Red Devils came to an end at the end of last season.
The Spaniard, on the other hand, chose to sign a new contract with Manchester United in June, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2022.
Mata's Premier League opportunities were limited last season, with the Spaniard starting only six games for Manchester United in the top tier.
Last season, the 33-year-old scored one goal and added two assists in nine Premier League games for the Red Devils, who finished second in the table.
Both Mata and Matic joined Manchester United from Premier League rivals Chelsea FC, and the Serbian midfielder has expressed his delight at seeing Mata sign a new contract with the Red Devils.
When asked about Mata and Lee Grant re-signing with Manchester United, Matic told the club's official website: "Fantastic people and players."
“You are aware that Juan is a magician. On and off the football field, the children may learn a lot from him.
“You know him well; he's been here for eight years and is simply great.
“I'm also thrilled for Lee that he's signed a new contract, especially given how fit he is and how he trains. He is deserving of all excellent things.
“As I previously stated, the young players, as well as myself, can learn a lot from them.
“You learn from everyone, and they are both excellent individuals, and everyone at United is thrilled to have them on board.”
Manchester United will begin their new Premier League season on August 14 against Leeds United at Old Trafford.
