Liverpool and Man Utd want EURO winner – Reds have already made a £60million bid

Liverpool and Man Utd want EURO winner – Reds have already made a £60million bid

Liverpool and Manchester United are both allegedly interested in Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, which is unsurprising given his performances at the European Championships.

Jurgen Klopp requires a center midfielder to replace Georginio Wijnaldum, who joined PSG, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's standing with Paul Pogba is fragile.

After his contract expired, the Dutchman left the club, and he needs to be replaced as soon as possible.

Both Premier League managers are looking for a new center midfielder, and while Liverpool and United are supposed to be competing for Saul, they are also said to be competing for Barella, the Italian EURO 2020 champions.

Pogba's contract problem has prompted the Red Devils to examine Barella, according to Calciomercato, as published by the Hard Tackle.

DON'T MISS:

Liverpool, as has been widely reported, has to find a successor for Wijnaldum and has yet to do so with the summer transfer window closing in 2021.

Barella would be a fantastic substitute, even if he isn't a like-for-like replacement, because he has a fantastic grasp of the game.

According to FC Inter News, a report from La Repubblica from July claims that Liverpool made a €70 million (£60 million) bid to the Italian club, and while this has been quashed, if the claim is true, we can assume the offer was promptly rejected as he is nearing a contract extension at the San Siro.

My intuition says yes, but my pessimism and aggravation at seeing players like Jadon Sancho and Rapha Varane sign for Manchester United makes me say no.

Last summer, we began off well by adding Kostas Tsimikas, and then later in the window, we added Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota.

DON'T MISS:

After Ibrahima ‘Ibou' Konate's deal was finalised before the window opened, this summer appears to be moving in the same direction, and with just over three weeks to go, nobody knows what's going on.

The most dependable sources, such as Paul Joyce, Neil Jones, James Pearce, and Melissa Reddy, have all gone silent, which either means we're getting close to a new signing or there's nothing in the works.

I can't think it's the latter, because standing still would jeopardize all of Liverpool's hard work over the last few years
